The CDM pack, written for your site

Every CDM pack starts with a risk assessment. The risks that matter most on your site decide which documents go into it: RAMS, the construction phase plan, COSHH assessments, permits to work, lifting or rescue plans. We work on around 150 CDM projects a year, including difficult and unusual jobs.

FAQ

What is CDM 2015?

CDM 2015 is the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. They set out the health and safety duties of clients, designers and contractors on every construction project in Great Britain, whatever its size.

Do I need a construction phase plan for a small job?

Yes. CDM 2015 requires a construction phase plan for every construction project. On a job with one contractor, that contractor prepares it. On a job with more than one contractor, the principal contractor does.

What is a RAMS?

RAMS stands for risk assessment and method statement. It sets out the hazards of a task, who could be harmed, and the safe way to carry the work out. Principal contractors usually ask for it before you start on site.

What is in a CDM pack?

It depends on your site. We start with a risk assessment, which shows the risks that matter most on your job and have to be controlled. Those risks decide which documents go into your pack.

What do you need from me to write a RAMS?

We need your company details, the site address, the scope of work and the tools or equipment you will use.

Is the first call free?

Yes. On the first call we work out what has happened and what you need. You usually get a rough price on the same call.

When must a project be notified to HSE?

A project must be notified to HSE if the construction work will last longer than 30 working days with more than 20 workers on site at the same time, or will exceed 500 person days (for example, 10 workers for more than 50 days). The client sends the notice (form F10) before work starts; for a domestic client, that duty passes to the contractor or principal contractor.
